Award-winning playwright and actress Lolita Chakrabarti has been appointed an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, which was announced on Friday 11 June 2021.
Lolita’s credits include the award-winning theatre adaptation of Life of Pi, which will open in the West End in November 2021, the ambitious Invisible Cities (MIF), Red Velvet, which opened in London’s West End and New York and Hymn (Almeida), which live streamed to rave reviews through the pandemic and will open to live audiences from July 2021.
Acting credits include playing Queen Gertrude, opposite Tom Hiddleston, in Sir Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet (RADA), Fanny & Alexandra (Old Vic) and Free Outgoing (Royal Court). TV credits include A Casual Vacancy (BBC1/HBO), To Provide All People (BBC2), Beowulf (ITV), Jekyll and Hyde (ITV), Riviera (Sky), Criminal (Netflix) and Defending The Guilty (BBC).
Forthcoming projects include Vigil (BBC1), Wheel of Time (Amazon) and Showtrial (BBC1).
